Having already decided to become an acupuncturist, Desiree Sale began her career in healthcare as a First Responder and then EMT at Alfred University in New York's Southern Tier, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art and Biology. Immediately after her undergraduate study, she attended the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in New York City where she earned her Master’s in Acupuncture. Desiree's clinical training was at the Yu Wen Acupuncture Clinic in Manhattan, and at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, in an acupuncture for pain management study.
While a student in acupuncture school, Desiree interned at HealthGuru.com contributing medical research and expertise as well as creating graphics for their educational health videos.
She co-founded and served on the boards of Global Clinic and the Roc City Health Project, not-for-profits that bring acupuncture and other healing modalities to populations with limited access to healthcare. She also helped to organize and host a series of health fairs in the Rochester area, while working full time at Points of Harmony Acupuncture in Greece, NY. Desiree will continue to do facial rejuvenation acupuncture at her Harvard street location. Facial rejuvenation treatments include organic facials from the lead aesthetician at Blu Water.
Desiree now has her own practice in downtown Rochester, NY, where she practices different styles of acupuncture including: Dr. Tan's Balance Method, Classical and Traditional Chinese Medicine (CCM and TCM) and Dr. Shi Xue-Min's XNKQ Stroke Protocol. She practices non needle techniques including Moxibustion, GuaSha, Cupping, Ear Seeds and works with Essential Oils. She puts a large emphasis on diet and lifestyle and offers counseling in these areas. Desiree is thorough, detail oriented and determined. Rather than "fighting" your ailment, she uses acupuncture to give you the resources you need to heal.
